Two items of positive newsflow have been largely responsible for thesharp rise in Peter Hambro's shares since our main recommendation at 385p just two months ago.  The first was a year end trading statement, which showed that production at its Pokrovskiy mine had increased around 70% to 120,000 ounces, while production from its Omchak joint venture was 48,000 ounces since its establishment last August. Prices achieved on gold sales have been higher than budgeted, but the most important development was that the new 1m tonne per year capacity resin in pulp plant is now fully operational.
