Shares in financial spread betting firm IG spiked 35p on the day it announced storming Q3 results, which showed turnover rising 55% to £46m for the three months to 29 February. Aided by the continuing equity market volatility, IG noted that the rate of account opening in its financial business has continued to accelerate. Meanwhile, the international picture is strong also. The group’s new offices in France and Spain have performed well in their first four months of trading and are now opening more than 400 accounts per month. Together with Italy, Singapore and Germany, these five countries now contribute revenue of more than £1m per month.
