The combination of strong results and an eps enhancing acquisition were enough to see analysts upgrade Lavendon’s (FT sector: Support Services) forecasts for the ninth time in little more than a year and means that it is now expected to make a pretax profit of nearly £30m this year, a near four-fold increase since 2006.  Lavendon, which hires out so-called powered access equipment known colloquially as flying carpets is in the middle of a purple patch of growth brought about through favourable trends and canny acquisitions.
