Pawnbroker, Albemarle & Bond triggered a round of upgrades following very strong interim results. For the six months to 31 December, turnover increased 49% to £39.4m and pretax profit rose 75% to £10.8m. Eps was up 73% to 14.16p. Strong cash flow reduced gearing from 85% to 47%.With bank lending still hard to come by, Albemarle benefited with its pawn loan book rising 7% to £27.5m, while there was a 14% increase in pawnbroking income to £13.2m.
