Cluff Gold has temporarily suspended operations at the Angovia mine in the Ivory Coast after the deteriorating political situation and risk of civil war there meant critical supplies such as fuel, explosives, cement and cyanide “have become only intermittently available.†Angovia produced 20,000 oz gold last year, out of total group production of 94,000 oz. Earlier Cluff announced that it will invest US$32m on exploration this year on extending mine lives including its Kalsaka mine and also demonstrating gold sulphide potential and will be financed by existing cash flow.
