It seems remarkable that FTSE-100 group Whitbread recently powered to a new high of 5345p. Back in 2011 the shares traded as low as £14 and even when we tipped them in August ’12 they were still just 2088p. The gains follow its announcement that results for the year to February will be at the top of analysts’ expectations.Premier Inn hotels grew sales 16.5% in the 11 weeks to 12 February (including like-for-like sales growth of 8.6%) as revenue per available room increased 8.9% thanks to a 3% rise in occupancy to 71.1% and 4.3% jump in room rates.
