New CEO Carolyn McCall’s (ex Easyjet and Guardian) decision not to pay a special dividend caused a fall in the shares but, in truth, results were respectable. Revenues rose 4% to £3.7bn while pretax profit fell 6% to £800m, giving eps of 16p. A dividend of 7.8p was declared.Broadcast & online, which commands 47% of UK TV advertising and 21% share of viewing, delivered a 7% fall in operating profit to £599m on sales down 3% to £2.07bn, reflecting a slow-down in ad spend on retail, finance and food.
