Our decision to average down looks premature given Luceco’s shocking update on 6 March but the speed of its deterioration may have a lot to do with the greater reluctance of retailers to re-stock in any depth due to UK consumer spending weakness. Elsewhere in this issue, InnovaDerma and UPGS are facing their own problems for the same reasons.Luceco said trading conditions “have remained difficult due to its UK consumer facing business (25% group revenue),” which it blamed on consumer spending and the weaker dollar.
