The shares jumped 6.5p to 70.5p on news that electronics component distributor, Acal, had taken a 4% stake.  Deltron's chief executive, Christopher Sawyer, told TMI that he believes this is a prelude to a possible bid in around 12 months, assuming trading conditions have picked up by then. Alas, Acal's move came toolate to stop Deltron's shares falling through our 68p stop-loss. Our original recommendation was  effectively a bet on an industrywide recovery taking place by the second quarter of 2002. Although our call now looks at least a year too soon, Deltron is in the best possible shape to take advantage of any upturn following arestructuring of its cost base.
