Strong forecast beating results from countermeasures firm Chemring saw the shares recover well after a period in the doldrums. In the six months ended 30 April, pretax profit increased 64% to £11.8m on turnover up 72% to £82.6m, while stripping out acquisitions the underlying profit growth was still 55%. Earnings rose 90% to 27.7p, while net debt increased from £40m to £75m reflecting part-funding for those acquisitions.
