Shares in wine warehouse retailer Majestic Wine spiked upwards after it announced another set of record results. For the year ended 2 April, pretax profit increased 14% to £16.2m on turnover which rose 11% to £191m. Earnings rose a higher 13% to 16.6p thanks in part to the start of its £20m share buy-back program, in which 1.66m shares have so far been cancelled at a cost of £5.4m.Defying the increasingly tough retail climate, Majestic enjoyed underlying sales growth of 5% in the UK.
