Quirky TV programs such as Hollywood Pets illustrate just how far people will go to pamper their beloved household pets and Dechra (FT sector: Pharmaceuticals & Biotech), which manufactures and sells pharmaceutical products to the animal health market, is benefiting from this trend. It could even be argued that its products will survive the consumer belt tightening, a point which the healthy chart (see below) would appear to corroborate. The backbone to Dechra's business is its services division, NVS, a wholesaler distributer of pharmaceuticals, pet products, instruments and consumables.
