Petrofac (FT sector: Oil & Gas), which provides facilities solutions to the oil & gas production and processing industry, is one of the few shares currently enjoying everything its own way and following a blizzard of new contract wins its order book has hit record levels. Petrofac's path to success was secured back in 1991 when current chief executive, Ayman Asfari, guided it away from the highly regulated and over-supplied US market and towards the Middle East, Africa and Caspian Sea regions, which account for 70% of the world's energy reserves.
