In an update covering the first quarter to 30 June self-storage group Big Yellow announced that total store revenue increased 1% to £13.5m. This was driven by its wholly owned stores increasing occupancy by 3% or 56,000 sq. ft. to 1,788,000. Within that, same store occupancy increased 1% to 1,389,000 sq. ft while occupancy of the 16 leased up stores open more than a year rose 9% to 380,000. Meanwhile, net rents have averaged £25.70, broadly unchanged from the £25.73 in the previous quarter. During the period, Big Yellow achieved one new opening and now has 51 wholly owned stores, with total storage capacity of 3.2m sq. ft.
