In an update covering the first six months to 30 June financial spread betting firm London Capital has announced that while revenues have increased, profits have been impacted by lower levels of interest income and greater investment in new trading software and white labels. As a result profit before tax and share based payments will be £3.75m compared with £5.9m for the same period last year. Nevertheless, it has enjoyed strong growth in new client acquisitions, average daily trading volumes and client funds on deposit. Broker Cenkos, which blames much of the H1 shortfall on range-bound markets, has reduced full year pretax profit forecasts from £14m to £9m for eps of 15.8p.
