The recent bid approach for FTSE-250 oil producer Dana Petroleum has fired the starting gun on what could be an exciting round of take-over activity across the sector and another stock likely to attract interest is Gulfsands, which has assets in Syria, Tunisia and the Gulf of Mexico. Gulfsands has the perfect combination of a rising production profile, a large cash pile and speculative interest from what could be a highly rewarding exploration program and has already fought off one bid approach, pitched at 315p, earlier this year.
