Final results from Carphone showed eps rising 4% to 12.6p on pretax profit that fell £1m to £118.6m. Net debt was almost £30m (2011: net cash: £132m).CPW Europe, its 50%-owned chain of European stores, delivered virtually unchanged operating profit of £135m on turnover that fell 5.5% to £3.3bn, reflecting weak consumer confidence and a reduction in pre-pay handset subsidies from the network operators. Prepay connection volumes fell 30-40% in some markets but this was mitigated by an increase in smart phone penetration in the post pay segment, driving an overall improvement in average revenue per connection.
