Wine warehouse retailer Majestic Wine has continued to impress in tough times on the high street with final results for the year to 2 April showing a 14.5% rise in pretax profit to £23.2m. Eps rose almost 16% to 26.1p.Majestic's focus on value for money, easy on-site parking, a new minimum purchase order of 6 bottles and excellent product depth, ranging from old world clarets and burgundys to new world wines led to an 11% increase in customers who have purchased in the past 12 months to 568,000. This, alongside an 8% increase in transactions to 2.2m and a £2 increase in spend per transaction to £128, meant like-for-like sales rose 2.6%.
