During the remarkable energy price surge in the middle of the last decade we achieved notable success with several oil & gas producers, the most memorable being Dana Petroleum, which was tipped at 259p in June ’04 and within 2.5 years had surged above £13 before eventually being taken over at £18 in September ’11. Dana’s strategy was based on making acquisitions of low risk mature producing fields in the North Sea, with the cash flow being used to stimulate greater production as well as expand into new territories with exciting exploration potential.
