Multi channel clothing supremo N Brown released an update for the 15 weeks to 14 June, which noted a 2.6% increase in group revenues (2.5% like-for-like). This was in line with management expectations as it reduced non-core home and electrical ranges and re-phased marketing investment from pre to mid season to reflect a shift from catalogue to online sales and enable unrestricted refreshment of ranges. Sales performance has accelerated through May / June as the delayed new marketing spend took effect. Highlights include a rise in sales from the Simply Be and Jacamo brands of 6% and 10% respectively, while store like-for-like sales rose 20%. Online sales now contribute 58% of the total.
