It was third time lucky for Mike Ashley, Sports Direct’s founder and largest shareholder, as he finally received enough votes to pass a new bonus share scheme, which will pay out 25m shares spread across all directors, management and staff but only if EBITDA grows from a forecast £310m in ’14 to £750m by 2019 – growth of 139% in just 5 years!While Ashley has ruffled a few institutional investors’ feathers, this is nevertheless a positive development because if these targets are achieved the shares will soar a lot higher.
