Concerns that better than expected unemployment figures may cause interest rates to rise earlier than expected was the perfect excuse for investors to bank profits and against this backdrop the 1% fall by the TMI Trader Portfolio, compared with a 1.5% decline for the FTSE-100, was respectable. There were plenty of bright updates from our constituents including Optimal, which unveiled two eps enhancing acquisitions and Energy Assets, which is on course to increase eps 138% between 2013-15. Elsewhere, NMC’s update encouraged its founder, Dr. B.R Shetty, to acquire a massive 10m shares at 500p from its largest shareholder, while Crest Nicholson’s update triggered significant broker upgrades.
