Having fallen from a high of 418p to below 300p, shares in discount retailer Poundland have rallied after maiden full year results showed sales rise 12% to £1.1bn while pretax profit increased 68% to £36.2m. Eps soared 105% to 11.3p, while net cash was £13.9m (2014: net debt: £4.7m).Like-for-like sales rose 2.4% at constant currency while gross margins improved by 0.2% to 37.1% reflecting improved buying power and an increase in own label product from 36.6% to 38% of sales. During the year Poundland opened 60 new stores taking the total to 588 in the UK, with trading space increased by 12% to 3.1m sq. ft.
