The shares soared to a high of 509p after IG Design, the manufacturer of gift packaging, stationary and creative play products, released results ahead of expectations. For the year ended March, revenues rose 5% to £327m but operating profit increased 30% to £22.8m (33% constant currency) as operating margins spiked 140 basis points to 7%. This reflects a better product mix through design and innovation, as well as increased scale and utilisation, a smoothing of seasonality and cost efficiencies, says broker Cenkos. They also came despite elevated paper prices. Net cash rose from £3.1m to £4.4m despite a hefty £9.4m capital investment.The USA was the strongest region with turnover ahead 5% to US$158.8m and profit up a third to US$12 ...
