Still no news on any potential buyers after equipment hire group, VP, had earlier put itself up for sale. Nevertheless, final results has made the shop window more attractive with sales and pretax profit rising 14% and 67%, respectively, to £351m  and £38.9m. Return on capital employed recovered strongly from 9.2% to 14.5%.The UK division increased sales almost 14% to £320m with operating profit soaring 54% to £41.8m driven by strength in infrastructure markets such as HS2 and transmission networks although water (AMP7) and Rail (CP6) were more subdued, only showing signs of uplift in the fourth quarter.
