Nevertheless, final results has made the shop window more attractive with sales and pretax profit rising 14% and 67%, respectively, to £351m  and £38.9m. Return on capital employed recovered strongly from 9.2% to 14.5%.The UK division increased sales almost 14% to £320m with operating profit soaring 54% to £41.8m driven by strength in infrastructure markets such as HS2 and transmission networks although water (AMP7) and Rail (CP6) were more subdued, only showing signs of uplift in the fourth quarter.
