Since my March write-up shares in the meat processor have risen £4 to a new high of 4450p, in response to finals that were slightly ahead of expectations with sales and adjusted operating profit up almost 12% and 26%, respectively, to £2.6bn and £185m. Eps rose nearly 16% to 243p (3% above forecast). It’s simply brilliant at what it does and Deutsche Bank says over the last decade it’s generated annual compound revenue growth of 10%, and 11% eps growth and all that whilst maintaining a virtually ungeared balance sheet. Within Fresh Pork (25% sales) revenue rose almost 8% to £650m (25% sales) driven by higher prices and strong UK food growth offset by lower exports, reflecting weak Chinese pork markets.
