In what is the seasonally quiet six months to September, Hamleys postedpretax profit of £0.2m, in line with expectations. Trading continues tobe encouraging, with like for like sales at the Regent Street store up10%, accelerating to 23% since the end of September, although thelatter is set against weak comparatives in the wake of 11 September. Since the period end six new Bear Factory stores have opened, takingthe total to 30, with the one in Stirling being a new format, tradingfrom a smaller square footage (900 sq. ft. versus 1300-1600 forlarger  stores).
