Shares in Hornby, which owns the Hornby model Railway and Scalextricslot car racing systems, have produced a runaway performance since we tipped them last December at 482p.  Chief executive, Frank Martin,has really galvanised the company's fortunes, not only through its moveto manufacture in China, but also by getting more out of its well-knownbrands through launching new products.  These initiatives helped pretax profit rise 33% to £2.2m, on turnover higher by 13% to £15.8m, or the six months ended 30 September. Hornby's beefed up product range now includes  super detail locomotives and rolling stock, such as Pullman coaches and the "Q1 Ugly Duckling", as well as revolutionary steam-powered railway sets.&n ...
