Umeco - Activity levels high in civil aerospace

The shares hit a new high of 443p at one point, ahead of interims for the six months ended 30 September, which unveiled that UMECO's key civil aerospace market is continuing to see sharply increased activity levels. Helped by a £0.9m contribution from acquisitions, pretax profitincreased 23% to £5.4m, on turnover up 18% to £108.7m, while earnings were flat at 11.2p reflecting the increase in the number of shares in issue used to help fund the acquisition of Advanced Composite Group (ACG).  Acquisitions were largely responsible for the increase in net debt from £21.7m to £56.2m (gearing: 68%).
