The shares soared to a new high of 337p after "buy and build" confectionery firm Glisten announced at its AGM that it had enjoyed a very good start to the year, with overall turnover for the first four months being more than double that of last year. On a like-for-like basis, its turnover grew 13%. Glisten expects the second half to be underpinned by a number of new product and customer listings as well as extracting growth from recent acquisitions, such as Halo. Ahead of this statement, broker Charles Stanley had been forecasting earnings of 16p this year, rising to 20p next, but there’s a good chance that if Glisten maintains its strong momentum, these numbers will be upgraded.
