Oil & gas producer Venture Production has acquired the Ensign gas discovery area, through two separate transactions involving Shell, Esso and Centrica, for an initial £9.75m, rising to a potential maximum of £13.25m. Ensign, which is located in the UK southern North Sea spread over two blocks and sits immediately to the West of Venture’s owned "A" fields, was originally discovered in 1986 and is one of the largest undeveloped gas accumulations in the area. Estimated recoverable reserves are 90-200 billion cubic feet, equivalent to 15m-33m barrels of oil.
