Shares in Foxtons, a leading estate and lettings agent with 42 offices in and around central London, have got off to a flyer following their introduction to the main market at 230p on 25 September. Some investors might balk at the high PE for a cyclical business but the shares are all set for FTSE-250 inclusion  (at the next quarterly review on 11 December), which will force the trackers to buy. The business is currently trading strongly, helped by a combination of Government schemes to un-lock mortgage lending, a surge in interest from overseas buyers and a pile of offices opened in the recent past moving into profit.
