Results from Connect, the former Smiths News, were overshadowed by a lucrative agreement with Amazon in which the latter will exploit Connect’s newspaper and magazine distribution network to fulfil its “click and collect” orders. When selecting the “pass my parcel” service Amazon customers who order online before 7.45 p.m. will be able to pick up their parcels at the local newsagents or convenience store from 6.30 the next morning, while orders placed before 11.45 a.m. can be picked up from 4 p.m. the same day.
