The shares have traded back towards their highs after UAE-based NMC issued a strong update for the period from 1 July to 27 October. This showed the healthcare division (hospitals, specialist clinics) increasing 18% to US$81m, driven by occupancy growing from 60.2% to 72.8% and more specialist higher value procedures.Its total licensed capacity is 470 beds but only 277 (261 in Q3 2013) are now operational. Excitingly, the balance of 193 beds will now be phased in gradually, with the biggest contribution from the recently opened Brightpoint women’s hospital (100 beds) and Dubai Investment Park hospital, which will add 60 beds.
