Dunelm - Acquires Fogarty bedding brand

The shares moved to the top of their range after Dunelm put out a positive Q1 update that showed like-for-like sales +5.5%, consistent with Q4 run rate of +5.9%. This was achieved despite a tough Q1 comparison last year of +8.9%.Broker Numis notes that with weather patterns fairly consistent year-on-year, the result reflects encouraging progress made in refreshing product and improving seasonal merchandise. Gross margin edged ahead 0.2%, while online sales growth continued (+26%).Dunelm also announced the acquisition for an undisclosed sum of the Fogarty bedding brand and trademarks on a worldwide basis, a brand that it already sells.
