Whitbread continues to fire on all cylinders with interims showing revenues up 11% to £1.44bn while pretax profit and eps increased 14% to £29m and 127.3p, respectively. Net debt rose £143m to £726m reflecting capital spending of £293m.Within hotels & restaurants operating profit rose almost 11% to £249.4m. Premier Inn sales rose 12.6% (like-for-like sales up 5%) to £642m with revenue per available room growing 4.6% and a 7% increase in room numbers. Average occupancy was 82.9% while London achieved 88.9%. The chain added 819 new rooms in H1 taking the total to 59,957 and for the year it expects to add 5,500.
