Retirement house builder McCarthy & Stone noted that since its last update on 2 September, which had seen sales slowing post the EU Referendum, trading and other lead indicators are now ahead of the previous year. Over the first five weeks of the new financial year reservations have been stronger and cancellation rates have returned to more normal levels, while new enquiries have increased. Consequently its forward order book, including legal completions since 1st September, is now similar to last year at c. £173m (2015: £177m).Broker Canaccord notes that McCarthy sits on a 2017 price / NAV of just c 1.2 times versus a sector average of 1.55 times and sees attractive medium term value.
