It’s amazing to think we tipped Smart Metering Services (SMS) as low as 235p in November ‘12 given that they have recently spiked to an all-time high of 639p. The company, which installs smart meters and rents them out to the energy suppliers under long-term 15 year contracts under inflation protected deals, is benefiting from Government legislation forcing all 27m UK domestic households to have gas and electricity smart meters installed by 2020.Interims for the six months to 30 June showed turnover increasing 25% to £32.3m while pretax profit rose 15% to £9.2m.
