As we write markets are fearful of a win for Donald Trump at the US election with the FTSE-100 and FTSE-All Share both down 4.4% on the month. But in the words of famous investors, the “best time to buy is when there’s blood on the streets” (Sir James Goldsmith) and be “greedy when others are fearful” (Warren Buffett). The last time shares were marked down in thin volumes was in the aftermath of Brexit (TMI, August ’16) when we highlighted unusually low PEs and our mini portfolio of Aldermore, Crest Nicholson and Polypipe all enjoyed healthy bounces with only the listless N Brown missing out.
