H&T has said the FCA is reviewing its credit worthiness assessments for its high cost, short term credit (HCSTC) unsecured loans business. H&T has temporarily ceased all HCSTC unsecured lending while it works through the review. It expects the proportion of revenues in HCSTC to be less than 4% for FY’19. H&T is looking at its unsecured lending practices over the past six years as part of this review; the average portfolio over the period has been £3m and there were total customer interest payments of £24m. Should redress be payable, H&T anticipates funding this from existing resources.A disappointing development albeit a relatively small part of the business. We will await events. ...
