Yellow Cake, which is slang for processed uranium ore, was a front page write-up at 241p in December 2018 and after a slow start the shares have rocketed towards £4.The business purchases uranium oxide, used to fuel nuclear power plants to make electricity, which it stores securely in a Canadian warehouse. It initially purchased c. 8.4 million lbs, equivalent to 5% global production in 2016, made mostly at US$21 / lb. The price has since rocketed to US$43 (having briefly touched US$50). The World Nuclear Association said the world’s 440 nuclear reactors require 79,500 metric tonnes uranium oxide each year and forecast a 26% increase in demand from 2020 to 2030.
