Trading for the five-months to 31 August 2024 has been encouraging and in line. Babcock has delivered good organic revenue growth, particularly in civil and naval Nuclear, and in Land. Operating profit also increased compared to the same period last year. JP Morgan notes the speculation of potential cut-backs due to Labour’s Strategic Defence Review (SDR) in its quest to plug its £40bn black hole but says this is likely misplaced. On the contrary it thinks Babcock could play a major role helping the Government reduce its costs through its capabilities maintaining and upgrading existing defence equipment. In other words it could be a net beneficiary of the SDR. JP Morgan’s unchanged forecasts are for eps of 45.8p in the year ...
