Casual dining chain Loungers continues to chug along with strong growth in trading and openings. Like-for-like sales grew 4.7% over the first 24 weeks, double the sector’s growth, and drove total sales growth of 19.2% to £178.3m. 17 sites were opened taking the portfolio to 273 as at 6 October. This included the Ritorno Lounge in Bristol’s harbourside, its eighth site in that city, which opened in July and had the strongest start for a new site in its 22-year history. An Autumn menu refresh has been launched with more modest pricing changes but with a focus on innovation and evolution, including a broader range of flatbreads and more lamb dishes.
