Another TMI favourite to pleasantly surprise,  ladies clothingretailer, Alexon has defied the negative sentiment towards clothingretailers by announcing like-for-like sales growth of 2% for both the 6and 22 weeks to 4 January, against demanding comparatives of 15% and10% respectively, in the prior year.  In response broker, DKW, hasupgraded forecasts for the year ended January 2003 from a pretax profitof £28m to £30.2m and earnings from 31p to 33.5p (they were just 26.3pwhen we recommended them last March.)  For 2004, the brokerbelieves they will reach £32.1m and 36p.   Although last year’s top two performing divisions, Bay Tradingand Style, saw slower sales against tough comparatives, there were goodperfor ...
