Johnston Press has issued an encouraging trading statement ahead of its December year end, stating    that profit this year would be at the top of the range of market forecasts.  For the five months to 30 November, like-for-like growth in advertising revenues was 2.8% in the continuing businesses and 1.1% ahead in RIM, the most recent acquisition.  This represents a useful improvementon the 1.2% and 1.1% respective growth rates in the first half and is crucial for Johnston's prospects because advertising accounts  for74% of group sales.  Apart from advertising in motors in the acquired business all other categories (including recruitment which hadpreviously been in decline) experienced growth.  Mea ...
