Along with other retailers, New Look has reported a migration of customer expenditure away from December (full price) and into the January sales.  As a result although gross margins were 1.3% lowerthan last year, like-for-like sales grew 5.1% in the 7 week period to 11 January, while seasonal stock levels remain at comfortable levels.  The gross margin blip was a slight shock to investors, but it should be set in the context of a spectacular 10.6% increase within the last two years.    In the light of thattrading statement previous forecasts for a pretax profit of £84m andearnings of 26.4p have been left  unchanged for the current yearto March.   With the ne ...
