After Photo-Me's cautious AGM statement, it provided a more reassuring tone at its interim results in December. For the six months ended 31 October, pretax profit increased 22% to £18m on turnover up 0.4% at nearly £118m, while earnings rose nearly 17% to 3.1p. TheVending division saw similar levels of profit on a 3.3% decrease in sales, reflecting the relative maturity of the photobooth business. Only France (turnover up 8%) performed well, with the UK ( +1%) and recession hit Japan (-8%) suffering sales declines.
