Self storage firm Big Yellow's trading update noted that revenues for Q3 to 31 December were £14.2m, which represents growth of 1% year-on-year but a 5% decline from the previous quarter. Average occupancy of all stores fell 2% over the previous quarter to 1,778,000 sq. ft., while average rent fell 3%. Big Yellow opened two new stores in the quarter in Sheen and Sheffield, trading within the partnership with Pramerica. As a result, the group now has 49 directly owned stores with a total self storage capacity of 3.1m sq. ft. There are also 20 sites in the development pipeline of which 14 have planning permission and two applications have been submitted (including one at appeal).
