Thanks to a strong update and two contract wins, shares in Petrofac hit a new high of 1658p. The update noted a 20% underlying rise in net profit for the year to 31 December, with the order intake expected to be around US$4.4bn, resulting in year-end backlog position of US$8.4bn (31 December 2009:US$8.1bn). Gross cash is expected to be around US$1bn (2009: US$1.4bn.).Since then, Petrofac has announced the commencement of the second phase of the huge South Yoloten gas processing plant project on behalf of Turkmengas. This is an EPC lump-sum contract, worth a whopping US$3.4bn and is scheduled to last 31.5 months. Most recently it has also won a US$280m offshore contract by Petronas to develop an early production system in Malaysia. ...
