Although the negative sentiment surrounding the slow moving housing market has dented shares in self storage operator Big Yellow, its results were actually quite respectable, largely thanks to its deliberate positioning in London and the South East, where the vast majority of revenue is generated. For the six months to 30 September store revenue increased 7.1% to £31.9m, while adjusted pretax profit rose 20% to £11.6m. Eps increased 20% to 8.9p, while dividend rose from 4p to 4.5p. Impressively net asset value (mostly freeholds) rose nearly 2% to 457.5p, which makes the current share price appear considerably over-sold.
